The Umzinyathi District Municipality is a Category C municipality, which is one of the three categories of municipalities in South Africa. The municipality is situated in the north-eastern part of KwaZulu-Natal, approximately 120 km north of Pietermaritzburg. The municipality is responsible for providing services to a population of approximately 823 000 people, spread over an area of 4 993 square kilometres. The municipality is divided into five local municipalities, namely: Mkhambathini, Nkandla, Ntambanana, Umvoti and Endumeni. The municipality is a major agricultural producer, with a strong focus on sugar cane, maize, and cattle farming. The municipality is also home to a number of small-scale industries, including textiles, furniture, and construction materials. The municipality is committed to providing quality services to its residents, and to promoting economic growth and development in the area.

Responsibilities

The Manager: Budget and Reporting Post is responsible for providing financial management and reporting services to the municipality. The incumbent will be responsible for preparing and presenting financial reports to the municipal council, as well as providing financial advice to the municipal manager. The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring that the municipality's financial systems and processes are in place and functioning effectively. The Manager: Budget and Reporting Post will be required to work closely with other departments and sections within the municipality, as well as with external stakeholders, such as the provincial treasury and the national treasury.

Requirements

  • The incumbent will be required to have a strong understanding of financial management principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The incumbent will also be required to have a strong analytical and problem-solving ability, as well as the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • The Manager: Budget and Reporting Post will be required to have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, as well as a minimum of 5 years' experience in financial management and reporting.
  • The incumbent will also be required to have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
