<p><span style="font-weight: bold">About the Department:</span></p>
<p>The Information Technology (IT) Department at Ashesi University provides strategic leadership, reliable infrastructure, and user-focused services that enable teaching, learning, research, and administrative excellence. The department manages campus-wide networks, data centers, enterprise applications (including student information and learning management systems), cybersecurity, audiovisual systems, classroom technologies, and IT support services. Working closely with academic and administrative units, the IT team develops and implements technology solutions, ensures privacy and compliance, and drives digital transformation initiatives to support the university’s mission of educating ethical, entrepreneurial leaders for Africa. <p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold">About the Role:</span><br></p>
<p>We are seeking a proactive and skilled IT Support Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive IT support across various areas, including general IT services, cybersecurity, Management Information Systems (MIS), network infrastructure, and project research and documentation.</p>

<p>The IT Support Officer will play a key role in maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring smooth operations, and contributing to the research and documentation of IT-related projects.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: bold">Reports To:</span> Assistant Director -Network Security and Infrastructure</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: bold">Key Responsibilities</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold">General IT Support:</span></p>
<ul>
<li>Provide day-to-day technical support to users for hardware, software, and IT systems.</li>
<li>Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer systems, printers, and other peripherals.</li>
<li>Respond promptly to IT service requests and resolve issues efficiently.</li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold">IT Security:</span></p>
<ul>
<li>Assist in implementing and maintaining cybersecurity measures to safeguard organizational data.</li>
<li>Monitor systems for potential security vulnerabilities and escalate incidents as necessary.</li>
<li>Ensure antivirus, firewalls, and other security tools are up to date.</li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold">Management Information Systems (MIS):</span></p>
<ul>
<li>Support the management and maintenance of the organization’s MIS platform.</li>
<li>Collaborate with departments to ensure accurate and timely data reporting.</li>
<li>Provide training and technical assistance to users of MIS systems.</li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold">Network Infrastructure:</span></p>
<ul>
<li>Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the organization’s network infrastructure.</li>
<li>Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and ensure uptime.</li>
<li>Monitor network performance and implement improvements as needed.</li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold">Project Research and Documentation:</span></p>
<ul>
<li>Support IT projects and initiatives.</li>
<li>Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for IT systems, processes, and projects.</li>
<li>Collaborate with team members to ensure the successful execution of IT-related projects.</li>
</ul>

<p><span style="font-weight: bold">Qualifications and Skills</span></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).</li>
<li>Proven experience in IT support roles, preferably in a similar capacity.</li>
<li>Strong understanding of IT systems, hardware, and software.</li>
<li>Familiarity with cybersecurity practices and tools.</li>
<li>Knowledge of MIS platforms and reporting systems.</li>
<li>Basic understanding of network infrastructure and protocols.</li>
<li>Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.</li>
<li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills.</li>
<li>Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.</li>
<li>Attention to detail and a proactive attitude.</li>
</ul>
