Head of Engineering

Reporting To: Group Chief Technology Officer (Group CTO).

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Management:

• Set Engineering goals; clear, strategic and aligned to the company's goals and missions;
• Budget Management; Develop and manage the department's budget ensuring cost effective use of resources.

Leadership & Team Management:

• Team building; Recruit, hire and retain top engineering talent, create an innovative team culture.
• Performance management; Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to the team members;

Technical Oversight:

• Technical Strategy; Develop and oversee the implementation of the technical strategy, ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Quality Assurance; Ensure the team meets the highest engineering standards of quality and reliability.
• Innovation and Improvement; Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Cross functional collaboration; Work closely with other departments to ensure alignment and project execution;
• Stakeholder Communication; Regularly update senior management on project status, risks and technical challenges.

Operational Excellence:

• Process Improvement; Implement and optimize engineering processes and workflows to increase efficiency and productivity;
• Risk Management; Identify potential risks and mitigation strategies to ensure project success
• Resource Allocation; Allocate resources optimally to support the business projects and needs.

Technology & Infrastructure:

• Technology Stack decisions; Make decisions about the technology stack, tools and platforms used;
• Infrastructure Management; Oversee the development and maintenance of the technical infrastructure;
• Security and Compliance; Ensure that engineering practices comply with industry standards and regulations.

Education Requirements:

BSc in Computer Science or Telecommunications, or a Diploma in Computer Science or Telecommunications with 5 years' experience in similar roles.

Essentials

• Advanced understanding of 4G/IP/GPON networks and systems;
• Relevant certifications will be an added advantage
