Tsebo Facilities Solutions is looking for a Handyman to provide effective maintenance, repair, and installation support to buildings, facilities, plant, and equipment, ensuring that all reactive and planned maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs), SHEQ standards, and Tsebo operating procedures. The role contributes to maintaining a safe, functional, and well-presented environment for clients and building occupants. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
    • Execute scheduled preventative maintenance tasks as directed by the Technical Services Supervisor.
    • Conduct inspections of equipment and facilities to identify maintenance requirements.
    • Complete maintenance checklists and accurately record completed work.
    • Report potential equipment failures and maintenance risks proactively.
  • Reactive Maintenance
    • Respond promptly to maintenance faults, breakdowns, and service requests.
    • Diagnose faults and perform repairs within agreed turnaround times.
    • Escalate complex repairs requiring specialist intervention.
    • Ensure minimal disruption to client operations during maintenance activities.
  • General Building Maintenance
    • Perform maintenance and repair work relating to:
      • Plumbing systems and fixtures.
      • Basic electrical installations and repairs.
      • Carpentry and joinery.
      • Painting and surface finishing.
      • Tiling and glazing.
      • Drywall and ceiling repairs.
      • Flooring installation and repairs.
      • Doors, windows, locks, and fittings.
      • Shelving and storage installations.
      • External building maintenance and repairs.
  • Asset Care and Housekeeping
    • Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop areas in a safe and organized condition.
    • Ensure materials and spare parts are used responsibly to minimize waste and costs.
    • Submit material requirements to the supervisor timeously.
    • Assist in maintaining accurate asset and maintenance records.
  • Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (SHEQ)
    • Comply with Tsebo's SHEQ policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
    • Identify and report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions.
    • Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Customer Service
    • Build positive relationships with clients, site personnel, and service users.
    • Communicate professionally regarding maintenance progress and completion.
    • Deliver a high standard of workmanship and customer service at all times.
  • Administration and Reporting
    • Complete job cards, checklists, maintenance reports, and documentation accurately.
    • Provide regular feedback on completed work and outstanding issues.
    • Maintain records required for audits and compliance purposes.
  • Ad Hoc Duties
    • Perform any reasonable task related to the position as directed by management.

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical maintenance, painting, tiling, glazing, and general building repairs.
  • Understanding of preventative and reactive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to use maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic technical instructions and maintenance schedules.
  • Basic reporting and record-keeping skills.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications: Grade 12 (Matric). Technical trade-related qualification will be advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience in general maintenance, building repairs, or facilities management. Experience working in commercial, industrial, or facilities environments.
  • Valid driver's licence.
